Certified Sacred Belly Binding
Belly binding the practice of gently wrapping the fragile post birth belly in cloth to support and allow healing to take place. It was once part of the regular post partum care of new mothers in maternity hospitals however physiotherapists realized that more muscle stability and recovery could be achieved by putting effort into developing and recovering the pelvic floor muscles.
Belly binding to some people is the new fad of social media obsessed post partum mothers wanting to spring back into their pre-pregnant shape, without too much effort. However the process of binding a new mother's belly with a close fitting cloth is both an ancient ritual and part of our more recent history of midwifery, a once common practice that fell out of favour with the introduction of physiotherapy to help new mothers recover from childbirth.
We are currently proudly studying as a Ballarat's only Certified Sacred Belly Binding Practitioner and we can not wait to bring this service to Local Mothers
